Retailers should seize the moment to run new bidding processes

According to the National Association of Cargo Transportation and Logistics (NTC & Logística), diesel accounts for 30% to 35% of road freight transportation costs in Brazil, strongly impacting companies' revenue in the country. For this reason, retailers need to seize the moment and adopt effective strategies for an efficient bid.
According to Camila Affonso, partner at Massimo Consulting and a consumer goods specialist, the recent drops in diesel prices over the past few months, combined with the government's decision to maintain the fuel tax exemption, represent a major opportunity for the sector.
"Renegotiating with current suppliers has the advantage of keeping an experienced team in that operation, but the disadvantage of less significant price reductions. On the other hand, by running a bid and attracting several companies interested in the contract, the retailer may be able to secure more competitive costs. In this case, they will need to implement the supplier change, stabilize the operation, and develop it until it reaches the ideal point," explains Camila Affonso.
